Millions of Rupees have been pumped in by Celebrities and industrialists alike even before the BCCI's megashow, the IPL, has even kicked off. I know a lot has already been written about this already and a lot more flashed in the media , but there dosen't seem to be anything wrong with professional cricketers making some money, does it?
However, the question is whether we need any more cricket at all? Isn't there enough out there already? The BCCI could have rather started a drive to improve paypackets and prize money in the already existing Domestic competitons like the Ranji, Irani and Dullep trophies. (That would have been enough incentive for our 'ICON' players to play the regular league season and maybe even attract overseas players).
Just a few thoughts though.
MS Dhoni had a winning bid of
USD 4 Million from the Chennai IPL team
Ironically, the winners of the 2008 edition of the
Premier Hockey league took home a total prize money of around 4 Million
Rs.
The BAI could not afford to secure any shuttle cocks for a preparatory session before the team left for the Thomas & Uber Cup asian Zone matches.
